Let’s be honest, we all have been there at some point in our lives. Whether it’s a one-time weakness or a bad habit of years, getting in bed with a full face of makeup or just the bare minimum like a mascara is familiar to many.
Don’t get me wrong – I totally understand the feeling of complete exhaustion by the time we make it to bedtime, making us weak and VERY prone to skipping the cleansing process, not even talking about any other nighttime routine steps…
BUT! I need you to listen carefully this time!
It’s doing much more harm than we might expect in contrast to using the holy nighttime hours for rejuvenation and rest, resulting in a fresh, plump and healthy complexion.
Sleeping with makeup is one of the worst mistakes that you can make for your skin, especially mature skin.
All dolled-up beauty sleepers are led to premature aging of the skin. Makeup interrupts cell turnover and sleeping in it prevents your skin from its much, much-needed rest & renewal.
"One night of sleeping in your makeup is unlikely to cause long-lasting damage to your skin," says dermatologist Dr. Schweiger.
"However, each night you sleep in your makeup, your pores become more clogged. Eventually, this can result in the formation of a microcomedone, which attracts the acne-causing bacteria to your pores."
Imagine your skin being exposed to the polluted city air, all the ingredients of your makeup (which aren’t always the best) AND not getting to rest from all that dirt and heaviness.
This also results in your natural collagen levels dropping which already happens due to growing older, we’re just sky-rocketing the speed of that.
Skin appears more dull, rough, with visible fine lines and deeper wrinkles, more prone to irritation, clogged pores and pimples. Do you really want that?
If you need another reason…
I know some ladies that sleep with mascara on so that they don’t have to reapply it every day and potentially damage their lashes.
What they don’t know or fully understand is that just as skin, our lashes need to rest as well.
Sleeping with mascara on tends to weaken the eyelashes in the long run, making them thinner as well as predisposed for sparseness, breakage and falling out.
It being the most sensitive area, snoozing in full eye makeup puts you at risk for eye inflammation, infections, eyelid redness, and corneal abrasions.
Let’s avoid that, shall we?
Removing makeup is only the first step of the perfect skincare routine, yet it’s a very crucial one as we have just discussed. And although it is foremost to actually do it - HOW it’s done is of major importance as well.
What will save your skin and eyelashes? What will make them healthier?
Choosing your makeup remover might not be an easy task nowadays. Balms, wipes, micellars, toners, creams, oils, you name it!
How to choose the best makeup remover that’s suitable for mature skin & eyes?
To start with, you have to understand what you're looking for! I’ll go first and you let me know if you agree!
1. The perfect makeup remover, primarily, should be suitable for very sensitive skin. It should never irritate, nor make your eyes red & watery.
2. It should feel gentle on the skin, especially if eye makeup is removed. It should treat our most sensitive area with loving kindness, we deserve this after all.
3. As it is a makeup remover so it should perform accordingly. Without the need to rub and scrub, please.
4. The perfect makeup remover should leave my skin feeling clean, moisturized, refreshed, hydrated & balanced.
5. The last thing I want is to have a makeup remover that dries out my skin every evening.
6. A nice smell would be lovely! I don’t want to smell alcohol or pharmacy before bedtime.
7. And lastly, it should be suitable for menopausal skin (treats blemishes, balanced for an oily T zone, feels fresh and not sticky). Yes, I’m that demanding and I know I should be as I’m not settling less for what I truly am in need of and deserve.

I have the same concerns as Pamela.

Will this remover work on your mascara? A product I love but also the hardest makeup to remove of any I’ve ever used?
Also, is this product intended to replace cleanser? I’m confused about how you’re positioning it as part of a nightly ritual.

I agree with the previous comments. I find that I am only using your mascara, which I love, because it is soo difficult to remove. And I use excellent and expensive removers. Thank you for addressing this!!
